Design is what I do

A Bit About Me

A third generation San Diegan, I grew up in north county with my mom and three outstanding siblings. After graduating from Mt.Carmel High School (go Sundevils!) I attended a series of colleges locally - Palomar, SDSU, and (last but not least) CSUSM. after a seven-year tenure at the Wild Animal park, I moved on to teach biology and related courses and would eventually transition to a local fortune 200 company. It was here I began to plant the seeds of understanding of business operations: learning the finer points of marketing, customer relations, software testing and the quintessential Microsoft Excel (PS, I’m still a big fan of Excel!).

Master Class in Design

I would depart the corporate world in 2013 to endeavor to build a business with my husband and best friend, Jeff Bagby, an accomplished professional brewer. Together we sought to build and operate a massive brewery and restaurant in Oceanside - Bagby Beer Company was launched in a midcentury BMW dealership in 2014 after two years of design, permitting, and construction.

It was this incredibly challenging experience that introduced me to the world of design in a formal way as I helmed the entire design - from graphic design (logo, branding) to interior commercial design. This experience was truly a master class in construction, reading plans, working with architects, General Contractors, subs, and the city - to name a few!

Design is Always Calling

Once I got a taste for the magical world of design - in all forms, I was hooked and could finally put a name to all of the creative projects I’d been tinkering with over the years.

It’s called design!

I have been lucky enough to continue my work at Bagby by designing both the branding and interior of the latest, coolest tiki speakeasy “The Rum Ration” that launched in April 2023. A little midcentury with a vintage nautical vibe, this project allowed some interesting mod art, lots of tropical plants, touches of rattan and natural wood, and dozens of pieces of vintage glassware from the fifties and sixties.
